How is the concentration of SARS-CoV-2 determined?
Zymo Research has created an RT-qPCR based assay that targets N1 gene specific to SARS-CoV-2. The quantification is based on a standard curve of in-vitro SARS-CoV-2 RNA diluted down from 5,000 copies to 8 copies per reaction.
How does the service check for inhibition?
The service features a sample spike-in control with 50k HeLa cells. The delta Ct between the sample spike-in and a blank spike-in extraction control must fall within a set parameter of a standard deviation of ≤1 Ct.
What RNA purification method is used?
The service uses the Zymo Environ Water RNA kit for RNA purification.
How accurate is the testing service?
The Zymo Environ COVID-19 Wastewater Testing Service is very accurate with reproducible results down to as low as 20 copies per reaction for our limit of detection.
