IRVINE, Calif., October 27, 2026 — Zymo Research is proud to announce its renewed sponsorship of the Molecular Ecology Working Group (MEWG), a key subdivision of The Wildlife Society (TWS) that promotes molecular tools for wildlife ecology, management, and conservation. The sponsorship reflects a core belief of Zymo Research: that science should uplift both humanity and the natural world.

To support scientists while serving as stewards of our planet, Zymo Research is engineering molecular technologies and building meaningful partnerships. Zymo Research is excited to sponsor MEWG’s Bioinformatics and Big Data for Conservation Workshop at TWS’s 33rd Annual Conference, taking place from November 1st-5th in Des Moines, Iowa. Providing scientists with powerful tools and the skills to use them is a critical step in protecting the biodiversity of a changing world. The hands-on training provided in the workshop will nurture the scientific skills necessary in ecology today, empowering researchers to close the gap between data collection and conservation decisions.

In addition to the workshop, Zymo Research is helping to expand access to the Annual Conference through student travel awards. The Annual Conference is one of the largest gatherings of wildlife professionals in North America and gives students the chance to share their work and build the professional networks that will carry them through their careers. By helping to remove some barriers to attendance, Zymo Research is supporting the next generation of molecular ecology researchers.

Zymo Research’s partnership with MEWG builds on a previous collaboration. Zymo Research sponsored MEWG at the 2024 TWS Annual Conference and the two have since worked together on educational resources for the molecular ecology community, including webinars, researcher spotlights, and grant opportunities. These efforts reflect a shared belief that education fuels the development of scientific innovations that can protect the natural world.

"Inventive scientific technologies alongside education and training strengthen the molecular ecology community and allow us to better understand the complex ecosystems making up our world,” said Dr. Molly Garrett, MEWG Chair. "We extend our gratitude to Zymo Research for supporting us and resonating with our goal to leverage molecular research for science-based conservation efforts.”

Zymo Research's commitment to conservation and sustainability is rooted in its guiding philosophy that “The Beauty of Science is to Make Things Simple”. Simplicity is more than just convenience. Molecular tools that are accessible and high-quality bring workflows to more researchers, even when they’re in challenging, remote environments. Simplified workflows can also enable less resource-intensive science that can translate into meaningful progress toward protecting biodiversity.

After the conference’s conclusion, Zymo Research is looking forward to continuing to work with MEWG to create new educational resources that will focus on broad topics in conservation and sustainability. About the Molecular Ecology Working Group

The Molecular Ecology Working Group (MEWG) of The Wildlife Society (TWS) aims to promote scientific advancement by applying molecular techniques to wildlife ecology, management, and conservation. We seek to enhance awareness of molecular ecology and genetic applications to wildlife biology and act as an informational and networking resource. The working group is intended to be broadly inclusive of the various aspects of molecular ecology that may be applicable to wildlife.
